Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was seen having an animated conversation with Joao Cancelo after the defender's red card in the 2-1 win over Fulham.
The Premier League champions needed a last-minute Erling Haaland penalty to claim three points after being reduced to ten men when Cancelo barged Harry Wilson over in the box on 26 minutes.
As there was no attempt to win the ball, the 'double-jeopardy' rule did not save the Portuguese full-back from being sent off.
City vented their frustration at the referee, insisting it was a fair shoulder-to-shoulder challenge, but the penalty stood after a customary VAR review.
Ex-Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira stepped up for the Cottagers and cancelled out the opener from City striker Julian Alvarez to make it 1-1.
As Cancelo finally trudged off the pitch, Guardiola was seen gesticulating with his player on the touchline.
The City boss was clearly unhappy - although it was not clear whether his anger was directed at Cancelo or the officials.
Reacting on commentary for talkSPORT, Sunderland legend Micky Gray said: "It was interesting. As Cancelo went down the tunnel, Guardiola had a long conversation with him.
